The AUTO GLOW provides a helicopter glow plug engine with improved reliability especially at low throttle settings. A boost feature improves the engine response when a sudden increase in engine demand is detected.

Glow Driver Function.

The Glow Plug is ignited when the Throttle stick is below the active threshold (below 25%) for starting. When the throttle stick is above 25% power is removed from the glow plug. The Glow Plug is driven at low stick positions even when the engine is running to improve its idling reliability.

Boost Function.

This is accomplished by monitoring parameters such as rpm and throttle commands from the Throttle Jockey PRO Governor.  The Glow Driver continually monitors the Throttle Jockey PRO parameters in flight. If the rpm bogs excessively due to a high rate of change of engine demand during a high load maneuver, the Glow Driver will momentarily ignite the glow plug proportionally. Some of the bogging is due to a sudden delivery of cold fuel to the cylinder. The momentary glow plug re-ignition will re-heat the cylinder improving the engine’s ability to react to the change in demand.
